Glasgow Chamber of Commerce
Deadline draws near for Glasgow Business Awards 2010
The deadline for entries for this year’s Glasgow Business Awards is just a day away, with all nominations required by Friday 30 July.
All Glasgow organisations have been encouraged to participate in the awards and after all the entries are received on Friday, the judging process will be carried out by an appointed Glasgow Chamber of Commerce judging panel.
Applications forms can still be downloaded from www.glasgowbusinessawards.org/applications.asp for anyone looking to make a late nomination.
Early bird tickets for the event are also available if booked before 30 July.
Stuart Patrick, Chief Executive of Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’ve already received an overwhelming number of applications but we are hoping to receive many more still right up until Friday’s deadline.”
The signature event of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the 13th annual Glasgow Business Awards (the GBAs) will this year be held at a glittering awards ceremony and dinner at Glasgow’s Thistle Hotel on Thursday 7 October 2010.
The cream of the city’s business community will compete for 15 awards on the night, one of which will be the hugely popular Evening Times Award for Glasgow’s Favourite Business, won last year by the Q Club.
This year’s event will also contain four new categories – covering sectors including health and tourism as well as use of social media – while Glasgow Chamber of Commerce has confounded the challenging economic climate by securing six new sponsors to date.
The Awards will once again – and for the eighth consecutive year – be backed by lead sponsor the Bank of Scotland.
“We are rightly very proud of the efforts and success of Glasgow’s dynamic business community and we trust the Glasgow Business Awards 2010 will once again provide a fitting stage for us all to celebrate and toast those who are performing at the top of their game.”
New categories for this year are Happiest Healthiest Workplace, Tourism Event of the Year, Young Business Person of the Year and Best Use of Social Media with new sponsors for 2010 including Glasgow Airport, GTG Training, Scottish Power, Radio Clyde, Health at Work and Thistle Glasgow Hotel.
