John Lewis department stores has appointed Kim Lowe as managing director of John Lewis Glasgow – succeeding Lesley Ballantyne, who recently took up the post of Director of Operational Development in London.
In her new post at Glasgow’s Buchanan Galleries branch, Kim, previously General Manager of John Lewis Aberdeen, is responsible for heading up all aspects of store operations including the leadership of the shop’s 650 partners.
Kim’s appointment was announced, fittingly, in a week when Glasgow Chamber members and staff met Co-operative Development Scotland to better understand the role they play in developing co-operative businesses in Scotland.
The event, entitled ‘Co-operating for Growth’, started with a welcome address from Richard Muir, Commercial Director Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, followed by a presentation by Martin Peters, project manager of C:DS – who highlighted the business benefits of working on a cooperative model.
The event, at the Restaurant Bar and Grill, Princes Square, provided an excellent platform for Glasgow Chamber members across different industries to discuss the real value of collaborative working and benefiting from each other’s expertise. Sponsored by C:DS, the event formed part of the Glasgow Chamber’s continued efforts to support small businesses through difficult trading times.
